All Plainfield Park District facilities, playgrounds, skate parks, dog parks and athletic courts are closed until further notice.

The Ottawa Street Pool is located across from the Recreation / Administration Center near downtown Plainfield. The 278,000 gallon L-shaped outdoor pool is equipped with high and low diving boards and contains lap lanes. The facility also has deck chairs for sun-bathing, a 3,000 gallon enclosed tot wading pool, a ship-shaped children’s play area, an eating area so patrons can bring their own coolers (no glass containers.)

  • Season Pass Information

    Season pool pass holders gain admittance to the pool deck 15 minutes before the general public so you can secure your favorite spot, get in early on the 2nd Sunday of each month, and get exclusive entrance to Pass Holder Appreciation Day. Season passes are a fun and affordable way for your family and friends to relax and enjoy the summer. And remember: the more times you use your pass the more you save. Patrons must register in person for pool passes!

    Everyone passing through the admissions area is required to either pay the daily admission fee or present their season pass. There are no exceptions! PLEASE NOTE: proof of residency is required to receive our resident rate. Payment accept with cash or credit only, no personal checks allowed.

  • Pool Closing Guidelines

    The Ottawa Street Pool reserves the right to close the facility due to inclement weather or low attendance.

    Inclement Weather

    *If the outside temperature does not reach 70 degrees by the time of opening, Ottawa Street Pool will be closed until 4:30pm.

    *Swimming is prohibited when thunder is heard or lightning is seen. The pool will close for a 30 minute period after the last lightning or thunder is detected. If the pool is closed due to rain and the weather clears by 2:30pm, we will attempt to re-open by 3pm. Otherwise the pool will remain closed until the next open swim time.

    Low Attendance

    Ottawa Street Pool reserves the right to close the pool due to low attendance. If the attendance does not reach 20 patrons within the first two hours the pool will close until the next open swim time.

    Rain checks may be issued to those participants paying daily admission into the Ottawa Street Pool and who are rained out within the first hour of their visit. NO CASH REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED.

  • Pool Rules

    1. No diving or flipping off the side of the pool.
    2. No food or beverages are allowed on the pool deck, except in the designated areas.
    3. Smoking, alcoholic beverages, and any other illegal substances are strictly prohibited.
    4. Goggles may be worn, but fins, snorkels are not allowed.
    5. Only U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets and water wings may be used.
    6. High dive users must be 48” tall.
    7. Swimsuit with swim liners only. No leotards, cutoffs or colored T-shirts are allowed.
    8. Children under the age of 2 must wear plastic pants or swim diapers, no disposable diapers.
    9. Plainfield Park District is not responsible for the loss of theft of any personal belongings.
    10. Children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

  • Pool FAQ

    1. Can I bring outside food and drink into the pool?
    We do have a concession stand at the pool where we sell snacks and drinks. You can bring in your own food. No glass is allowed in the facility. Only water is allowed on the pool deck. Food must be eaten in the concession areas. If they have a cooler, we can keep it up at the front desk.

    2. What floatation devices are allowed?
    Arm floaties and coast guard approved life-jackets are allowed. We do not allow inner tubes, kick-boards, or noodles. Every Tuesday night from 6:30-8 will be float nights where patrons can bring in floats, noodles, etc to use while swimming.

    3. What are the hours and prices for this summer?
    Afternoon Swim: Monday-Friday 12:00-4:30 p.m.
    $5.00 for residents
    $10.00 for non-residents
    $3.00 for seniors (55 and older)
    Evening Swim: Monday-Friday 6:30-8:00 p.m.
    $4.00 for residents
    $8.00 for non-residents
    FREE for seniors (55 and older)

    4. If I want to sign up my child for lessons all summer or for multiple sessions what level should I put them in?
    Sign your child up for the same level for each session. If your child passes to the next level after the first session the pool management will transfer them to that class in the system.
    (example: they want to sign up for 3 sessions and the child is in level 2, sign them up for level 2 for ALL sessions) If it is the end of the session and they know whether their child has passed or not already, then please sign them up for the appropriate class (whether they stay or move up to the next level)

    5. It is our first time taking lessons, what level do we sign up for?
    Preschool Level 1- under 6 and not that comfortable in the water (half in big pool & half in baby)
    Preschool Level 2- under 6 and comfortable in the water, but cannot float on their own (big pool)
    Level 1- 6 or older and cannot float or is not comfortable in the water
    Level 2- 6 or older, can float, has some combination of leg and arm motions
    Level 3- 6 or older, can do arm and leg movements together with face in the water. They work on front crawl with rhythmic breathing, back crawl, & elementary backstroke.

    6. How do I request an instructor for lessons?
    We only take requests for private lessons and it is only if that instructor is available or put on that session of lessons. You can call the pool and we have a request sheet that we write it on. When registering for lessons it can also be put as roster note if they would prefer a male or female instructor.

    7. When do lessons get cancelled and how to we find out they are cancelled?
    The earliest we will cancel lessons is 30 minutes before the lessons start. We try to get in as many lessons as possible. We will cancel lessons for thunder and lightning. We will also cancel lessons if the air temperature is below 65 degrees and the water temperature is below 70 degrees. Once we know that the lessons are cancelled we will call the phone number that is on file.

    8. If I have a child under 1 and I’m bringing them for daily admission do I have to pay for them?
    Anyone that enters the facility must pay have a pass or pay the daily admission fee.

    9. If I am bringing my kids to the pool, but I don’t plan on swimming do I have to pay daily admission?
    Anyone that enters the facility must pay have a pass or pay the daily admission fee.

    10. I want to do a Birthday Party or Private Rental what can I bring in?
    You can bring in outside food and drinks. All food and drinks must stay in the party area and is not allowed on the deck. No glass bottles or alcohol are allowed.

    11. Who is included in the total for the Party and Private Rentals?
    Anyone that enters the pool facility is included in the total for the party and private rentals. Parties are $120R/$150NR for 20 people for 2 hours during open swim hours and private rentals are $260R/$325NR for 40 people for 2 hours. Anyone over that count is an additional $5, which can be paid the day of the party.
