About The PARC Facility
The Prairie Activity & Recreation Center (PARC) is a 40,000-square-foot recreation facility at Gregory B. Bott Park, 24550 W. Renwick Road in Plainfield. It is the first recreation center in the State of Illinois designed within Net-Zero parameters. It received its Passive House Certification in the fall of 2019.
While some buildings aim for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification standards that show their energy-efficient building standards, PARC’s certification means that it creates as much energy as it uses. About 18,000 square feet of the roof is covered in solar panels capable of producing 213 kilowatts of electricity on site with excess energy that can be banked to offset natural gas usage. Through the use of triple glazed windows and super energy efficient insulated walls, PARC maintains heat in the winter and cool temperatures in the summer.
The Plainfield Park District received a $1 million grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Foundation to help PARC achieve the net-zero designation and also offset the cost of construction.

As one of its core values, the Plainfield Park District seeks to promote a lifestyle of fitness across all segments of the community we serve. That includes providing programs and recreation opportunities for healthy living.
A fitness membership at PARC is a great first step toward a more active, healthy lifestyle for residents with opportunities to walk or run on the elevated track, grab a workout in the fitness center, or take a fitness class that fits your schedule. The open gym offers times for families to come play and teens to meet their friends for a game of basketball after school. The PARC court is also open for volleyball and has enough space for 4 pickleball courts too.
Residents of the Plainfield Park District can waive the $75 joiners fee and there are plans for just about every budget with track- and open gym-only memberships, discount memberships for seniors and youth, and adult memberships starting at less than $300 per year.
The 1600-foot multipurpose room at PARC is the perfect place to host your next birthday or graduation party, wedding reception, bridal shower, family gathering, or community meeting.
The oversized gym can be converted into one full-size basketball court or two junior High courts, two full-size volleyball courts, or four pickleball courts.
PARC is centrally located with easy access from nearby IL Route 59.
