The Plainfield Park District recently announced the hiring of Joseph Quinn as a division manager, parks and grounds, in the parks and planning department.
Joe comes to Plainfield after serving as the athletic field specialist at Addison Park District, where his duties included full care of all athletic fields, repairs to equipment and vehicles, tree trimming and removal, pesticide and herbicide application, snow removal and aiding in all areas of the parks and grounds department.
At Plainfield Park District, Joe manages all parks and grounds maintenance work, special event equipment setup and special projects; schedules and supervises work crews; and oversees the completion of general maintenance-related projects. He also assists the director of parks and planning in creating a list of board- and director-prioritized projects.
Joe has extensive auto mechanic skills, with previous positions including general manager at Batavia Auto Mart, and working as an independent mechanic contractor through ARL Automotive in Warrenville.
He previously served as head grounds at Addison Trail High School (2005-2019), where his duties included oversight of 90 acres of property, the grounds crew, grounds department, large projects and day-to-day operations. Joe was also responsible for planning and designing landscape projects, and maintaining and repairing all grounds equipment, tractors, trucks, driver’s education cars and buses.
Joe began his career in 1996 in the Glenbard Township High School District 87, serving as the temporary custodian at Glenbard West High School before advancing to permanent custodian and grounds crew at Glenbard North High School. He then returned to Glenbard West as head grounds in 2004, overseeing the grounds crew, planning large projects and day-to-day operations of 19 acres of property.
Joe earned multiple awards while in the Glenbard Township High School District including:
- 2000 Glenbard North Principal’s Award for excellency of fields
- 2000, 2001 & 2003 Field of Excellence Award given by Pioneer Manufacturing Company to the top 17 non-professional athletic fields in the U.S. In 2003, Pioneer ranked the district’s fields 2nd in the U.S., earning the district a $1,000 student scholarship.

Joe resides in Aurora with his fiancé Nancy. The couple is planning to get married this September. In his free time, Joe is the driveline specialist/clutch mechanic as part of the pit crew for a top alcohol dragster.
