Public Information Meeting on Old Renwick Road Trail Extension

Old Renwick Road Trail Extension

A public information meeting will be held 6 to 8 p.m., August 11, at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center for the proposed Old Renwick Road trail extension of the DuPage River Greenway Trail.

The proposed multi-use trail is located east of the DuPage River and would cross Old Renwick Road. All persons interested in this project are invited to attend this meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, written comments can be emailed or mailed to:

Plainfield Park District
Attn: Bob Collins

Persons with disabilities planning to attend this meeting should contact the individual listed above by August 9, 2022 to make arrangements for participating. The contact may be by telephone, in writing, by fax or by telecommunications device for the deaf (TTY).

This is a federally-funded project, and the public information meeting is being held in compliance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements and the Illinois Department of Transportation’s public involvement policy.

The purpose of the project is to complete a missing segment of the DuPage River Trail corridor that is currently identified on the Will County Bikeway Plan. The project includes the construction of an asphalt multi-use trail that will travel northeasterly along the DuPage River, starting at the terminus of an existing asphalt trail in the River Point Estates subdivision, cross Old Renwick Road, cross West Renwick Road, and terminate at the existing sidewalk on the north side of West Renwick Road. The project will also include minor drainage improvements, native planting, tree removals, and two roadway crossings.

The proposed project will require construction in a floodplain. Compensatory storage will be provided to offset the fill in the floodplain.

No easements or right-of-way (ROW) acquisition will be required for the construction of the proposed improvements.

The meeting will be conducted on an informal basis. Representatives of the Plainfield Park District will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Representatives will answer individual questions offered by those in attendance. Verbatim comments will not be recorded. Park District representatives will address topics such as the need for the project and the tentative construction schedule. The draft project design report with drawings, maps, and environmental documents will be available for inspection and viewing during the entire time.

Persons seeking additional information or that cannot attend the meeting are welcome to contact Director of Planning Bob Collins at collins@plfdparks.org or at 779-252-2718.
