Have you run out of ideas for scout meetings? Let us help! The Park District has many offerings for Scouts of all ages. Whether you are a new scout or an experienced veteran, we have a program to suit your group’s schedule, interests and budget.

COOKING BADGE:
Earn your cooking badge at Plainfield Park District. Scouts will learn basic kitchen safety, along with making a simple snack and a healthy drink. All recipes are peanut free. Each Scout will receive a cookbook of recipes to take home to try on their own. Classes are offered Monday thru Friday, 4:30-8:30 pm and Saturday 9a-1p, depending on availability of the instructor and the facility. You can contact the Park District to schedule your cooking badge class.  Badges not included.

Sessions are 1 ½ hours long | Ages 5 & up | $10 per child | Min. 5/Max. 15

DANCE BADGE:
Earn your dance badge at Plainfield Park District. Scouts will learn basic stretching techniques, along with learning different types of dance, such as hip hop, ballet, jazz, lyrical or tap. Please contact the Park District to schedule your dance badge class. Badges not included.

EQUESTRIAN BADGE:
Earn your grooming badge at Normantown Equestrian Center (NTEC). Scouts will learn the basics of horse safety and be shown how to properly groom a horse. The children will be divided into small groups after the demonstration to clean up a horse or pony. The grooming session is followed by a short ride on a horse or pony that is led by a handler. There is no riding instruction included. Sessions are available by appointment only and are limited to days and times when proper staff and horses are available. We can tailor the classroom portion to fit your troop’s requirements. NTEC does not provide the badges.
