Plainfield Park District is offering an opportunity for players of all ages to participate in a 3 v 3 esports FROM HOME!
Rocket League competition this summer in partnership with Leagues, a recreational esports league based in Chicago. Registration is open thru June 10th at 3pm. Registrations received after 3p can’t be promised into the league.
Play starts at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24 and will take place at the same time each Wednesday through July 29th. Each week will be a 3v3 best of 5 series.
GGLeagues is an esports management platform that is focused on making gaming a social experience for players. This league can be played on various platforms (Xbox, PlayStation 4, PC).
**All the players will have to own the Rocket League game and be able to play online matches (for Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch this means they might have to purchase the ability to play online)
**Rocket League is a video soccer game held in a virtual stadium featuring rocket-powered cars playing in a challenging, fast-paced soccer contest with elements of a demolition derby.
You can sign up as a TEAM or a FREE AGENT. If you sign up for the TEAM level, only one person from your team (captain) will need to sign up.
The cost for the team is $75 and the captain will receive information on how to add the rest of his team to the roster. If you don’t have a team to play on, you can sign up as a FREE AGENT where the Park District will randomly assign three players to a team.
Please note, that if we do not have enough free agent players to form a team, you will be notified and registration will be canceled and fees returned.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SIGN UP FOR THE PROPER GROUPING (Team or Free Agent) ALONG WITH PROPER DIVISION (A, B or C) Gamers will be register themselves in one of three divisions depending on skill level, regardless of age:
Division A: This is the most competitive level league. Players can be at any skill level.
Division B: This is the medium level league. Players must be at the gold or platinum skill level; players higher than platinum are not eligible for this division.
Division C: This level is the most beginner-friendly league. Players must be at gold skill level or below to be eligible.
Information will be emailed out to participants from the Park District staff after 3p on June 10th with information on how to register your team. All players from a team need to register via Plainfield Park District website to get log-in information.

Baseball – Remote Training
Baseball will be back before we know it, will you be ready? One of the toughest things to do in the game is hit a baseball. Athletes will be able to sign up for the catcher’s session, hitter’s session or both. Hitting – Each week we will make our way thru a swing progression to help us knock off some of that stay at home rust. All players will need a bat, tee and a place to hit into. If you don’t have a place to hit into with baseball/tennis ball/whiffle ball, roll up an old sock into a ball will work. Classes will take place via Zoom. The focus will be on building confidence and dribbling the basketball, as well as incorporating some at home conditioning. Basketball is no fun if you struggle to dribble and, the goal is to make sure all players are having fun. Fun starts happening when you work on the right skills the right way. When you GET BETTER, the game becomes a lot of fun. The skills taught in this virtual class will be great but the interaction of multiple Breakaway coaches in every class will be just as important. These classes will be 45 minutes in length. We want to be able to teach, inspire, motivate, and most importantly, connect with your children during these different times. All players will need a basketball and their own space and access to view programming thru our zoom link. Getting Ready for E-Recreation
Plainfield Park District will open registration for virtual programming in May with classes available for all ages including fitness, special events, online learning, and dance.
Classes will be held virtually via Zoom.
In order to participate, residents will need to sign up for Zoom, and make sure they have the proper gear ready.
In preparation of taking your Zoom class we recommend:
- Close all other apps and windows besides Zoom
- Make sure your electronic device is up to date, pending updates can slow your connection
- Disconnect from any VPNs
- If using a laptop, plug in your wall charger
- Please remain muted to help maintain good audio quality for everyone
- Limit the number of devices using the same internet connection
