Plainfield Park District Summer Camps Set to Open June 8

The Plainfield Park District’s summer camp program is set to welcome its first campers starting the week of June 8.

Due to guidelines from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunities (DCEO), camp capacities will be limited.

Recreation Manager Leslie Anderson said that smaller capacities and new guidelines will help ensure the safety of each camper.

“We remain committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment for our staff and campers,” said Anderson.

Anderson said that this year’s camps will not include field trips or swim days but will be replaced by social distancing games, brain games, science experiments, crafting and other hands on activities.

Residents are encouraged to register as soon as possible through the Park District’s website, plfdparks.org.

Because information and safety guidelines are constantly changing, the Park District will continue to make adjustments to its procedures as the summer progresses, based on the information from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Camp Association, and the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
