Kindergarten Mini Shooters

Volunteer coaches introduce participants to the fundamentals of playing basketball through weekly practices and weekend games. The league emphasizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and fun. Enrollment in the winter is limited, so register early. Each participant will be provided a jersey.

Practices will take place one night during the week (Monday-Thursday) at either at either a School District 202 School or at PARC (Prairie Activity & Recreation Center)

Games will be played Friday-Sunday at either School District 202 School or at PARC (Prairie Activity & Recreation Center)

The team formation process will take place closer to the start of the program. Due to the number of athletes in the program, teammate, coach, practice location or practice night requests can’t be honored.

Practices will start in December, taking time off for the holidays, with games starting in January.

Any adult interested in coaching a Plainfield Park District youth sports team must complete a volunteer application and background check form prior to being considered a coach. If you are interested in coaching a team, please contact Dan at Schaffer@plfdparks.org.

Pre-Season Basketball Skills Camp

Ages 8-10
With basketball season right around the corner, let us help you get ready! Whether you are playing for the first time or are a seasoned veteran, our staff will put athletes thru various skills and mini games to get you up for the upcoming season. Each week will consist of a particular set of skills to help get you ready for the upcoming season with an event at the end of each class to put your skills to the test.

Junior Tennis Class

Ages 8-10
Junior Tennis Classes The junior program includes different ability classes, starting with Red Ball 1 and advancing to our Jr. Development groups. The program aims to provide a structured and fun framework for learning with the goal of fostering a lasting enjoyment of the game of tennis and willingness and desire to improve. USTA 10 and Under Tennis format will be used at certain levels. All participants will need to bring their own racquet. 

Red Ball
(Ages 4 – 7)
Players will develop agility, balance and coordination, movement patterns, forehand, backhands, serves, volleys, court position and scoring. 

Orange Ball (Ages 8 – 10)

Players will develop agility, coordination, dynamic balance, movement patterns, court positioning, scoring and reliable technique on forehand, back hand, serve and volleys.

Orange Ball Elite (Ages 8-10)
Players will develop advanced shot selection, us of angles, emerging strengths, prepare for orange ball play and begin to transition to green ball. Instructor:  MTL Tennis Management Group. DS

Junior Tennis - Development 1

Ages 11-17
This program is designed to introduce the game to junior high and high school players based on age and ability. Players will develop agility, coordination, dynamic balance, movement patterns, court positioning, scoring and reliable technique on forehand and backhand, serve, return and volleys. Class will use green ball for skill development with an introduction to yellow ball. DS

Junior Tennis - Development 2

Ages 11-13
Players will develop complex coordination, body awareness and control, reaction time, understanding of the game situation (offense, defense and neutral) in different phases of a point and high percentage shot selection. Singles and doubles match play for the last ½ hour.DS

Ignite Cheerleading

Ages 4-14
Our cheer classes are a great way to introduce your athlete to the sport of cheerleading. Athletes will learn level appropriate skills including but not limited to cheers, dance, jumps, motions and beginner stunts. Classes are held in two sessions; Fall session runs August-December and Spring session runs January-April. Each 15-week session will end with an in-house competition between all of our locations. In our 55-minute classes, which are held once a week, coaches follow a detailed lesson plan to ensure that each student is learning while having fun. During the last class of the session, students will showcase everything they learned. The Ignite In-House Recreational Competition is ONLY optional. If your athlete chooses to compete, there is a $50 competition fee and a $160 uniform fee. Uniforms remain the same until your athlete grows out of it which normally last up to two years. In order to participate, you need to also register with Ignite atwww.ignitecheerleading.com. You will then receive a waiver and parent handbook which explains in detail payment for uniform and practice expectations. MB

Volleyball

Ages 8-12
This class is designed to help players learn and develop a basic understanding of volleyball. The class will include instruction in the basic skills of serving, passing, setting, attacking and blocking. Students will learn good form, proper techniques and an appreciation for the sport through participation in drills and activities. DS

This class will introduce your child to the game of t-ball and teach them the basic rules. Semi-Private basketball lessons will help youth players take their game to the next level by refining and improving their technical basketball skills in a small group setting. Indoor Futsol/Soccer League

Ages 3-6
The Coed futsol/soccer League has been established for the purpose of introducing both boys and girls to organized soccer. It is the intention to teach players the rules of the game, develop skills, teach teamwork and good sportsmanship, and provide an opportunity for fun. The first two weeks will be practices and the remainder of the season will be games. Everyone receives a shirt.

You you have a one-hour slot each day, so you will not need to attend the entire time listed. Times will determined based on the number of athletes/teams in the league and will be sent out closer to the start of the season.

Flag Football League

Ages 5-13
The Fall is here! Are you ready for some Flag Football? Registration is open for players in Pre-K through 8th Grade. The first week will be practice only, with the following weeks consisting of a one-hour practice followed by a one-hour game. You do not need to attend for the entire time frame listed. Actual time slots will come out closer to the start of the season when final number of teams are set. Each player will receive their own set of flags and jersey. Volunteers are needed to coach teams. New Wave Lacrosse

Ages 4-14
Now being played on most college and high school campuses across the country, Lacrosse has been exploding in popularity! Athletes of all abilities are encouraged to play Lacrosse this fall! Newbies and experienced players will all be challenged by the professional coaches at New Wave Lacrosse. This in-house program encourages skill development, high repetitions, positional work…and FUN. Our 60-minute practice itineraries are tailored to ensure players are focused, engaged and learning from start to finish.

The leagues will consist of a 10-game regular season with a single elimination tournament. This is a recreational league. Games will be played weekday nights starting at 6:30pm. Double-headers may be scheduled. Awards will be given to top teams in the league and tournament based on size of league. Teams with 6 or more non-resident player will be considered a nonresident team and will pay the nonresident team fee. Full registration fee is due at the time of registration. DS

Can you bump, set, and spike with the best of them? Join our Co-Rec Volleyball League. This league will consist of 8 regular season games  with a single elimination tournament at the end. Games will be played on Wednesday evenings. Full registration fee is due at the time of registration. Completed rosters with names, addresses, phone numbers, and signatures are due the first day of games. DS

Illinois Shotokan Karate Club is Chicagoland’s premier karate school taught under the instruction of John DiPasquale, a four-time National Champion, US National Coach and President of the US National Karate Federation.

Pre-Karate classes, young children develop flexibility, strength and coordination in fun, yet disciplined activities. This program is specifically designed for growing minds and bodies to enhance memory and agility. Watch your child’s confidence blossom and their skills improve.

  •  Uniforms and Belt-Testing are options available through the ISKC instructor.
  • Please note that the Youth, Parent/Child and Adult classes may train together.
  • Beginner students will not be permitted to register into the current session after the second class has met.
  • Registration for continuers through advanced students will be accepted after the start date, but the full class fee is required. DS
