The Plainfield Park District will host a public input meeting July 15th from 5:30 – 7: 00 PM at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center, 24450 W. Renwick Rd.
Residents are invited to provide feedback on the proposed re-development of the site during the informal open house as well as in an online survey.
The feedback will be reviewed and incorporated as much as feasible into a final grant proposal and design, a follow up public meeting on Monday, July 29th.
The Plainfield Park District will be applying for an Open Space Land Acquisition & Development (OSLAD) Grant to renovate and update Eaton Preserve.
The OSLAD Grant is a matching funds grant administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). If successful, the project will likely proceed into development in 2020/2021.
The Eaton Preserve site is a beautiful natural and historic site with a silo and historic agricultural out-buildings, a picnic area, sand volleyball pit, playground, trails and extensive natural amenities including prairie restoration and river access.
The design program for the grant application will feature improvements to the historic and natural amenities to enhance access, create more usable space for events and picnicking, and add educational elements such as interpretive signs with information on the site’s history and natural character.
In addition, recreational improvements will include an updated playground, additional paths with an elevated hill outlook, and improved river access.
We look forward to collaborating with all of you to create an amazing natural, recreational, and interpretive educational experience at Eaton Preserve.
