2022 Capital Projects
  • Aspen Meadows Playground

    The play equipment will be replaced at Aspen Meadows, while also replacing the small shelter and possibly adding some benches.

    This project was bid last Fall, and will be installed this Spring.

  • Auburn Lakes Playground & Court

    Auburn Lakes ParkThe playground equipment selection for Auburn Lakes is the Landscape Structures/NuToys option (picture below). Based on the delivery timeframe, we will bid the installation in April for a May award. The construction should start sometime in June if there are no delays with shipping.

    The Auburn Lakes play equipment features a school age (ages 5-12) and pre-school (ages 2-5) play structure, a freestanding climber and spinners, and a swing set with two belt swings for the older children, an ADA and tot swing, and a Friendship Swing for friends to swing together. The play structures exceed ADA standards and feature a full variety of play elements including sliding, climbing, an overhead ladder, and interactive play panels. The project will also feature basketball court resurfacing, shelter cleaning and painting, new benches, a trash can, and picnic tables. The pond access points are also being reviewed and will be addressed separately.

  • Bott Park Lighting Field 1

    Bott Park Field 1Sports lighting will be designed and added to Field #1 at Bott Park. This will allow for expanded programming for the ballfield complex.

    Also, some solar lights were purchased in 2021 and should arrive in early 2022. These will be installed in key locations along the paths at Bott Park to support the expanded programming activity.

    The project is expected to bid in the spring and the goal is to get the installation work done in July of 2022 to minimize programming disruption.

  • Eaton Preserve Asphalt Trail Overlay & Canoe Launch

    Eaton PreserveThe trail at Eaton Preserve will be scarified and overlaid with new asphalt surfacing. This will be funded largely by a DCEO Grant through the State of Illinois.

    If budget allows, both of the parking lots and the path on the east side of the river will also be resurfaced.

    This project is expected to bid in spring for summer construction.

    The canoe launch at Eaton Preserve will be upgraded to a concrete access and the area will be cleaned up and graded to reduce erosion.

  • Four Seasons Electrical Upgrades

    Project will replace a number of older wood light poles at the ballfields, and a leaning pole. It will also replace/upgrade the electric service to the sports lighting at the ballfield quad and field 1.

    The project is out to bid now, with the goal of awarding at the February Board meeting, and construction to follow in March.  If material supply issues cause delays this work will be shifted to July to avoid programming conflicts.

  • Four Seasons Various Improvements

    Four SeasonsOver the next few years, various improvements will be implemented at Four Seasons to try and alleviate access, circulation and drainage issues, as well as upgrade utilities when feasible.

    The main focus for this year will be electrical upgrades to the sports lighting systems at the ballfields, as well as replacing a number of light poles.

    In addition, limestone screenings will be replenished at the main ballfield quad outside the paved areas and stone with limestone screenings will be added behind the new backstop area at Four Seasons West/Avery.

    If the budget allows, the addition of a pit toilet will also be explored at the main Four Seasons ballfield Quad, and if feasible installed later in the year.

  • Ottawa Street Park Court Complex Renovation

    The existing tennis and play court area will be scarified and renovated into a pickleball complex with improved access and additional seating.

    As part of this scope, the play area will be removed and that area restored as lawn area.

    This project is expected to bid in the spring, with work in the summer.

  • Sunset Parkway Playground

    Sunset ParkwayThe playground equipment selection for Sunset Parkway is the Little Tikes/Parkreation option, as shown in the gallery below. Based on the delivery timeframe, we will bid the installation in June for a July award. The construction should start sometime in October if there are no delays with shipping.

    The Sunset Parkway play equipment features an ages 2-12 play structure, and a swing set with two belt swings for the older children and an ADA and tot swing. The play structure exceeds ADA standards and features a full variety of play elements including sliding, climbing, overhead events, and interactive play panels. The project will also feature a small new shelter in the seating area, new benches and a trash can.

  • Village Green Court Resurfacing

    Village Green CourtsThe basketball and tennis courts will be patched and resurfaced. The tennis court will also be striped for pickleball.

    This project is expected to bid in the spring, with work in the summer.

  • Vintage Harvest Playground & Court

    The playground equipment selection for Vintage Harvest Park is the GameTime/Cunningham Recreation option, as shown in the gallery below. Based on the delivery timeframe, we will bid the installation in April for a May award. The construction should start sometime in June if there are no delays with shipping.

    The Vintage Harvest play equipment features a school age (ages 5-12) and pre-school (ages 2-5) play structure, and a swing set with two belt swings for the older children and an ADA and tot swing where the parent or caretaker can swing together with their child. The play structures exceed ADA standards and feature a full variety of play elements including sliding, climbing, an overhead ladder, and interactive play panels. The project will also feature basketball court resurfacing, a small new shelter in the seating area, new benches and trash can, and a picnic table; as well as a small trail head connection to the regional trail with a bike rack.

  • Wexford Park Playground & Access

    Wexford ParkThe play equipment will be replaced at Wexford Park, while also re-aligning the path down to the water view area to assure ADA access.

    This project was bid last Fall, and will be installed this Spring.
